During the winter our family spends our weekends crossing off items on our To Do List AND on our To Visit List. Hunter’s Honey Farm had been on our list for quite some time and we finally made our way there one Saturday. We learned quickly that winter was not the ideal time to visit so we vowed to return when it was warmer outside. Summer and early Fall are ideal.
Hunter’s Honey Farm (6501 W. Honey Ln., Martinsville) is about a 35 minute drive from our south side home and we loved the 
scenic drive. It would be most gorgeous in the spring or fall. The driveway to Hunter’s Honey Farm is lined with pine trees which are available at Christmastime for you to purchase, cut and bring home. The farm is open Monday – Saturday, 9am-6pm. Call ahead to be sure tour or activities are available the day you would like to visit.
Bring along a lunch that would be complimented by honey! Peanut Butter and bread for PB&H sandwiches, iced tea, yogurt, baked beans.

While at Hunter’s, tour the honey barn, work with a bee hive, bottle your own bottle of honey, roll up a beeswax candle and visit the gift shop that offers 
honey products that I never knew existed. You can even sample many kids of honey — that was Lulu’s FAVORITE part. Your family will learn all about the different things that bees make — it’s not just honey!
When the weather is nice, bring a lunch and enjoy the picnic area with your family. Call ahead to schedule your tour (765.537.9430). Prices for the tour activities are available online and prices start at $4 each person per activity. I recommend calling ahead to see which activities will be available on the day of your visit. Remember that bees are not that active in cold weather. Hunter’s Honey Farm offers package deals with multiple activities wrapped into one price.
